I'm also surprised to see all the people so far (five including me) using fluorescents. I guess we are all ecologically aware on this forum. Highpowered LEDs are developing fast, I expect them to become (almost) as good as fluorescent in two or three years. For now, they are as efficient as fluorescent, but more expensive and one of the major problems is that light output drops over time if LED heats too much. Personally, I don't like them at all, because they produce much more glare. You can look straight at fluorescent tube and it won't bother your eyes.
